Bicycle Repairs: By Appointment Bicycle repair shops are included on Washington State’s list of Essential Businesses within the Transportation and Logistics Sector, and we are committed to helping our neighbors keep their bikes running during these unusual times. We are here to repair your bikes, by appointment, and we are focusing on necessary repairs (please read below). Email firstname.lastname@example.org to begin setting up a service appointment. Include 1) the make, model, and color of your bike, 2) your phone number, and 3) a description of the problem/symptoms your bike is experiencing. (Please understand that a "tune-up" is a diagnosis, not a symptom.)
Bicycle Sales: By Appointment We are still selling bikes, but we are doing so by appointment only. Please email us at email@example.com and let us know what style of bike you are interested in, or what kind of riding you'd like to do. Please also provide us with your height, and a measurement of your inseam (in shoes, to the floor). We'll aim to narrow the selection of bikes with you over email. Then we'll arrange an appointment for you to come take a look and test ride the bikes you're interested in. We ask you to bring a helmet from home to test ride bikes, or plan on buying one from us, as we are not currently able to offer test helmets.
What it means to be an Essential Business We take our inclusion on this list seriously, and understand that many of you are relying on bicycles right now. We are focusing our operations on repairing and maintaining bicycles used for transportation purposes. For the time being, we are only accepting bikes for specific repairs that are needed for safe operation. Examples include flat tires, broken spokes, worn brake pads, and adjustments needed to ensure safe shifting and stopping.
We need all our customers to help us with this mission. If your bike is working, but is due for a tune up, please wait until we are back to normal operations. Similarly, if your bike has been sitting rusted and unused for ten years, please wait before asking us to rehabilitate it, unless you intend to use it for transportation during this crisis. Finally, if you are using your bike exclusively for recreational purposes, please help us keep our limited time and resources focused on operating within the spirit of “essential critical infrastructure.” We will do everything we can to prioritize repairs for people who use their bikes as their primary mode of transportation, bike commuters in other essential sectors, bicycle delivery riders, and care-givers.
Moving forward, contacting us, and reminders All of this may change with short notice as this situation unfolds. We will continue to post updates to Facebook, Instagram, and jrabikeshop.com and to our outgoing phone message as we know more, or as things continue to change.
We can best be reached by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org for any questions about our operations, or about obtaining repair parts or accessories. We are happy to answer questions and to help find parts you may need for home repair work, or accessories you may need to make your rides safe and comfortable. We still take our reputation as Seattle’s Friendliest Bike Shop seriously. We will do our best to help with your and your family’s cycling needs, while also maintaining a clean shop, and following responsible social distancing practices.
This should go without saying, but if you are ill, especially if you are showing symptoms of Covid-19, or have had close contact with someone who has been symptomatic in the last few weeks, we ask that you please do not come to the shop.
Finally, try to stay safe, and to be kind to one another.
Thank you all for your support now, and through the years.
