Current hours: 10am-5pm daily, by appointment 9/17/2020: IMPORTANT Operations update
Bicycle Repairs: Maintenance work now welcome! (NEW!!) We want to thank all of our customers for their patience during an unusually busy Spring and Summer. If you were one of our many customers who put off yearly maintenance, we are here for you again. You are now welcome to drop off your bikes for maintenance, (as well as repairs). We are, however, not doing on-the-spot evaluations or repairs as we did in ye olden days. You need to plan to leave your bike here for work. We would still prefer to start by making you an appointment via email. Please email email@example.com to begin setting up a service appointment. Include the following in your email: 1) your name 2) your phone number 3) the make, model, and color of your bike 4) a description of the problem/symptoms your bike is experiencing, or the services you hope to have performed. Once we've notified you that we've started you a work order, you are ready to drop off your bike. We will evaluate it within 1-3 days of drop-off. If your repairs can be completed for under $50, we will see to them during the evaluation. If they will cost more than that, we will email you an estimate and expected date of completion. Please get back to us as soon as you can to approve, ask questions, make clarifications, or decline work. If you approve the work, we will complete your repairs on the designated date, and will text or email you when your bike is ready with a final total that can be paid when you pickup, or via PayPal.
Bicycle Sales: By Appointment We are still selling bikes, but we are doing so by appointment only, and we have a VERY limited selection. We are still in the middle of a major international bicycle shortage, and have been unable to order new bikes for months.
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know what style of bike you are interested in, or what kind of riding you'd like to do. Please also provide us with your height, and a measurement of your inseam (in shoes, to the floor). We'll send you links and prices to anything we have in stock in your size. If you are interested in any of the bikes we have available, we'll arrange an appointment for you to come take a look and test ride the bikes you're interested in.
What we have: Civia North Loop E-bikes, Civia Parkway Step-Thru E-bikes, 44-48cm Jamis Renegade gravel bikes, 55-57cm Jamis Aurora Elite touring bikes, Small and X-Large Surly Big Dummy cargo bikes, a 17" KHS Alite 40 (factory second), an XL KHS Urban Xtreme, a 23" Jamis Commuter 3. We also have a few used kids bikes, used and new trail-a-bikes, the occasional used adult bike, kids Strider balance bikes, Sun unicycles, and Burly Minnow trailers.
What we do not have: new non-electric hybrids, new bikes under $800, new 24" or 26" kids bikes, mountain bikes, adult mountain bikes, kids mountain bikes, hardtail mountain bikes, full suspension mountain bikes, tandems, trikes, recumbents, beach cruisers.
UPDATE: We do not expect any 2021 bikes to start rolling in until November/December.
Other Retail Shopping: Please email about parts and accessories The same manufacturing shortages that have resulted in a bike shortage, have also resulted in a lot of shortage areas in bike parts and accessories right now. We have inventory gaps in the following areas: tires, tubes, derailleurs, tools, cranksets, chainrings, forks, grips, seatpost bags, pedals, bar tape (limited colors), helmets (limited colors), brake pads, baby seats, trailers, cable kits, top-tube bars, and many others. Emailing ahead will help us best ensure we have what you are looking for, and potentially save you a trip if we do not.
We are happy to answer questions and to help find parts you may need for home repair work, or accessories you may need to make your rides safe and comfortable. We still take our reputation as Seattle’s Friendliest Bike Shop seriously. We will do our best to help with your and your family’s cycling needs, while also maintaining a clean shop, and following responsible social distancing practices.
Contacting us, and reminders As you may have noticed, we are not answering the phone, and we do not know when we will be. Email is by far our preferred method of communication, and not dropping what we are doing every 5 minutes to answer the phone is about the only way we are able to complete repairs or order parts right now. Please email us, and please be patient. Your friendly neighborhood bike shop is very busy. We are trying to help as many people as we can in unprecedented times.
This should go without saying, but if you are ill, especially if you are showing symptoms of Covid-19, or have had close contact with someone who has been symptomatic in the last few weeks, we ask that you please do not come to the shop.
Finally, try to stay safe, and to be kind to one another.
Thank you all for your support now, and through the years.
